About the Role
WISER is a nonprofit organization built through years of dedicated volunteer effort to expand access to advanced STEM education globally. Our flagship WISER Summer Quantum Program provides high-quality quantum computing and emerging technology education free for students, thereby creating pathways into frontier science and industry.
We are seeking advanced learners, PhD candidates, researchers, and technical professionals to serve as Technical Mentors, supporting students throughout the summer program. Mentors play a critical role in guiding learning, clarifying technical concepts, and strengthening the academic experience for participants worldwide.
Who you are:
PhD, postdoctoral researcher, or advanced graduate student in physics, quantum information science, engineering, computer science, or related fields
Strong foundational knowledge in quantum computing, quantum mechanics, or emerging technologies.
Comfortable explaining complex concepts clearly to learners at different levels
Passion for education, mentorship, and expanding global access to advanced STEM training
What You'll Do
Provide technical mentorship to students via Discord and online forums
Answer conceptual and problem-solving questions related to quantum computing and related topics
Support student learning progression throughout the program
Assist in drafting and reviewing technical quizzes and assessment materials
Encourage best practices in scientific thinking and research-style problem-solving, help avoid plagiarism
Time commitment:
Minimum 5 hours per week during the program period
