I have my registration email, but I do not see the enrollment ID required for the Pre-Program Survey. How do I find it?First, ensure that you have the welcome email from WISER, not the email from Lu.Ma with the calendar events and Zoom link. Look for the email with the subject line: "Welcome to the 2025 Quantum Summer Program" In that email, scroll to the section titled: Your enrollment ID. This ID is unique to you and is used to confirm your registration in Canvas and prevent duplicate entries. Still can’t find it? Search your inbox for the subject line above, or check your spam/junk folder just in case.

I have my welcome email, but I can't access the Canvas course. What should I do?Follow these steps to troubleshoot: Use the correct link. Make sure you’re clicking the Canvas enrollment link in “Step 1” under the “Canvas Learning Platform” section of the welcome email. ❌ Do NOT try to access the course through the Canvas app or by going directly to canvas.instructure.com. Create a Canvas account. If you don’t already have one, the link will prompt you to create a new account. Use the same email address you used to register for the program on Lu.Ma. Choose your own password. Having trouble clicking the 'Enroll' button? Sometimes, the page may lag. If the Enroll button doesn’t activate after you enter your details, refresh the page a few times. This usually resolves the issue. After enrollment Once successfully enrolled, you’ll be able to access the Canvas course homepage and all related materials through the course link.
-
I enrolled in Canvas, but I can't access the assignments—they’re all grayed out. How do I unlock them?To access the full course content, you must first complete the "Getting Started" module at the top of the Modules page. This includes: Pre-Program Survey (You’ll need your Enrollment ID from the welcome email.) 🔓 Once the survey is complete, additional modules will unlock automatically as we reach the relevant sessions in the course. A few important notes: The "Getting Started" module does not count toward any certificates. Don’t worry about the grades you see for these initial assignments—they're just for onboarding and context.
-
How do I access the Gitlab for the QBronze and QNickel notebooks? In each module, you will see the assignments "1.0 Get started: QBronze Installation and Test" and "2.0 Get Started: QNickel by QWorld". These "assignments" are not really assignments and do not count for your grade towards the certificate. They only contain the instructions on accessing the Jupyter notebooks for you to practice the relevant concepts in the other assignments of the module. You do not need to complete all of the Jupyter notebooks, you can go through them at your own pace, but certain quizzes will tell you the exact notebooks that most closely cover the quiz's material.
-
How many attempts do I have for each assignment? Do multiple attempts affect my certificate? Are there time limits? Each assignment will list your “Allowed Attempts”—most allow up to 3 tries. There are no time limits, but Canvas will track how long you spend on each attempt. Only your highest score counts toward your module average and certificate eligibility. Example: If you score 40%, 90%, and 70% on your three attempts, Canvas will record 90% as your final score for that assignment. Taking multiple attempts does NOT impact your certificate negatively—feel free to use them to improve your score!
-
My assignments on Canvas are listed as "missing" or "late". Will this disqualify me from the certificate? You can find the deadlines for each module on the home page of the Canvas course, along with their respective deadlines. We will consider extensions in specific circumstances but you still need to: Complete all assignments in the module Meet the score requirements (at least 50% per assignment and a 70% average overall) Submit them before the final deadline listed on the Canvas homepage You can find the official module deadlines and the Final Certificate deadline on the Canvas course homepage.
-
Do I need to attend all of the lectures or watch the recordings in order to complete the quizzes on Canvas?Nope! The resources provided in Canvas are generally sufficient for understanding the quizzes. In several assignments, you will see that when you first open it, there are videos of previously recorded lectures on the subject, as well as lecture slides, and recommended Jupyter notebooks to study for that quiz. Use these as a strong starting point to understanding the material for the certificate. Lecture attendance is not a requirement towards your certificate, and may not offer many of you the detailed and personal guidance you'd prefer in order to understand the material. For this reason, we strongly encourage you all to help each other in the server. Ask questions - someone else is certainly struggling with the same thing! And offer each other guidance in your answers. DO NOT post answers, but do help!

Troubleshooting in Canvas: Password Reset1. Check Spam/Junk Folder Sometimes Canvas password reset emails get filtered. Search for emails and check your spam and promotional folders 2. Wait and Retry Email delays can occur. Wait at least 15–30 minutes before retrying. If you've already tried multiple times, avoid excessive reset requests — this can sometimes trigger email suppression by the system. 3. Try Password Reset from Canvas Directly Go to the Canvas login page (e.g., yourinstitution.instructure.com) and click: "Forgot Password?" Enter the email address you used during your application. Make sure: 1) You typed the email address exactly as you used it on your application form. 2) You select the correct Canvas instance (e.g., some schools or programs use a separate subdomain) More information is here > https://community.canvaslms.com/t5/Canvas-Basics-Guide/How-do-I-reset-my-Canvas-password/ta-p/446128
