WISER Research Fellows
WISER Research Fellows work on applied research projects that address real challenges identified by industry, government laboratories, and research organizations. Rather than completing hypothetical assignments, fellows contribute to active research alongside experienced scientists, engineers, and technical mentors.
What Fellows Gain
Through the fellowship, participants develop technical expertise while gaining experience rarely available through traditional coursework.
Fellows have opportunities to:
• Work alongside leading researchers and technical mentors
• Contribute to active research projects
• Publish research papers and technical reports
• Develop open-source software and research tools
• Present research findings
• Build leadership and project management experience
• Learn collaborative research practices used by industry and national laboratories
• Expand professional networks across academia and industry
• Strengthen graduate school and career applications
Whether pursuing graduate school, industry positions, startups, or national laboratories, fellows leave with tangible experience demonstrating their ability to solve complex technical problems.
